Courtside Outfits - Roland Garros
What to wear when you’re not playing - fashion inspiration a month before the tournament it kicks off.
Welcome back to Letters From…, a digital diary for the girls who crave timeless style, delicious moments, and sun-drenched sporting afternoons. This space is where I share reflections from the tennis world, my favourite looks and fashion favourites, and the in-between moments that make the season feel alive.
There’s something about Roland-Garros that’s effortlessly stylish — it’s Paris, after all. The city where understated elegance reigns, and the courtsides feel like the ultimate catwalk. But if there’s one thing worse than not knowing what to wear, it’s seeing all the outfit inspiration on the day of the event. I’ve been there — suitcase packed, Pinterest board full, and still unsure. So instead, I’m sharing this style guide early — a month out — to give you time to plan, dream, and get inspired at your own pace. Think soft neutrals and timeless silhouettes.
The Mazarin Dress by Dôen feels like it was made for long afternoons under the French sun: light and classic. I paired it with soft brown heeled mules that give you just enough lift without sacrificing comfort (key when you're navigating courtside steps) and a classic raffia bag. Beauty-wise, I kept it simple: a layer of Summer Fridays SPF for glow and protection, and a swipe of Chanel’s neutral glitter shadow for that soft, champagne shimmer that catches in the light. This is the kind of look that’s ready for the match, dinner after, and everything in between — no changes needed.
Sticking with the polka dot theme, this second look leans into ease. The Tahlia Dress (again by Dôen) has a soft structure that works perfectly for a full day outdoors — easy to move in, breezy in the heat, and quietly put-together. I paired it with classic ballet flats (because nothing feels more Parisian), and a Roland-Garros cap. A canvas tote keeps everything practical — snacks, water, an extra layer — without disrupting the outfit. For beauty, I kept it pared back: a few delicate gold rings, the Lisa Eldridge lip melt for colour that doesn’t ask for maintenance, and a quick mist of facial spray mid-day to stay fresh without needing a full reset.
Moving away from dresses, this look leans into the ease of cropped trousers—Aritzia’s tailoring offers that ideal mix of relaxed and refined. I’ve then paired them with a pale green silk sleeveless top from The Row (other options available on my Shop My page), creating a soft, understated palette. Accessories keep things polished: a raffia shoulder bag, black oval sunglasses, and strappy white sandal heels. A touch of Chanel’s cream bronzer and a spritz of Guerlain’s Eau de Fleurs de Cédrat finishes it all off—fresh, effortless.
Looking for a more casual look? No problem—this one is all about laid-back polish. It starts with a square-neck knit top from Matteau paired with wide-leg jeans for that effortless, just-thrown-together feel. I’ve then gone and paired it with some super soft and comfy loafers, again with the Roland Garros cap, because why not and a rattan woven handbag to bring that “off duty” charm. Beauty stays minimal but intentional: a swipe of liquid liner for subtle definition and a mist of Caudalie’s SPF facial spray for that fresh-faced glow, with sun protection built in.
Finally, a look I’m currently obsessed with. We all know how much walking a day at a tennis tournament involves—heels, sandals, anything delicate can quickly become a regret. You will either love or hate this kind of look, and I’m perfectly okay with that. Inspired by one of my forever muses, Dakota Johnson, it's the ideal blend of casual and considered: a pale blue dress with a graceful boat neckline from Faithfull, paired unexpectedly (but perfectly) with classic Nike trainers. Add tortoiseshell sunglasses, a woven zigzag shoulder bag in warm browns, and a simple claw clip to pull your hair back. For makeup, just a creamy flush on the cheeks—nothing fussy, just fresh. It’s unfussy, a little rebellious, and still somehow impossibly chic.
Whether you're courtside or simply watching from a café with a glass of something cold, the goal is to feel like yourself, just slightly elevated. I hope this lookbook has inspired you to find pieces that move with you, feel beautiful on, and carry a bit of that Parisian ease. After all, the best outfits aren’t always the loudest—they’re the ones you never have to think twice about.
